Content Moderation Policy
Last updated: 6 August 2026
Celina lives or dies on trust in its reviews. This policy explains what we remove, how a report becomes a decision, and how anyone affected can challenge it.
What gets removed
- Fake or incentivised reviews — not based on first-hand use, written by or for a brand, or posted from duplicate accounts.
- Defamatory content — false statements of fact about a brand, product or person, as opposed to honest opinion, which is always allowed.
- Abuse and harassment — hate speech, threats, or targeting a member.
- Off-topic, spam or advertising, including affiliate links.
- Unsafe claims — presenting medical or allergy advice as established fact.
- Private or infringing material — someone else's personal details or copyrighted photos.
A negative review is not a reason for removal. Brands cannot have honest criticism taken down.
How a report is handled
- Any member can report a review, comment, product or profile from the ⋯ menu on that item.
- The report enters the moderation queue and alerts our moderation team immediately.
- A moderator reviews the item in context — usually within 48 hours, and faster for threats, sexual content or anything unlawful.
- The outcome is one of: keep, remove the content, remove and warn the author, temporary suspension, or permanent ban with an IP block for repeat or evasive offenders.
- The author is notified in-app when their content is removed, with the reason. Every action is written to an internal audit log.
Repeat offences
We work on a strike basis: a warning first, then a temporary suspension, then permanent removal of the account. Serious violations — threats, sexual content involving minors, coordinated fake reviewing — skip straight to a permanent ban.
Appeals
If your content or account was actioned and you believe we got it wrong, email appeals@mycelina.com within 30 days with your username and a link to the content. Appeals are re-reviewed by a different moderator than the one who made the original decision, and we answer within 14 days. Content restored on appeal keeps its original date and votes.
Brand and rights-holder requests
Brands can flag reviews they believe are factually false or infringing at legal@mycelina.com. We assess the claim against this policy; we do not remove honest opinion on request, and we will tell you when a request is declined.
Transparency
We keep an internal record of every report and outcome, and use it to improve these rules. Questions about the policy itself: contact us.
